I owm an large iPad Pro, I have had, from time to time when the Pro is doing something out of the norm, do a hard reset.ĪND sometimes, I have had to do a reset of my iPads to get the digital AV adapters to respond properly.īoth my iPad 2 and iPad 3 share the same 30 pin digital AV adapter and the adapter is working fine on both iPads. It does not harm the device to this and most times, will clear up a glitch or issue. Sometimes a hard reset on ANY iDevice will fix some temporary issue that will crop up from time from time when using ANY iDevice. That should never be part of a plug 'n play process like using a basic adapter!

To your point about "resetting" I never tried that on the iPad 3 and won't do it on the new Air 2.
You must be one of the chosen few because after my iPad 3 stopped working with a perfectly good 30-pin to HDMI adapter, which I still have, I noticed on forums like this one that hundreds of owners of iPad 3s were outraged that this type of display process NO longer worked!
